The awards season has kicked of in great style with Prefect Irus winning Best Smart Building Technology at the Property Week Tech Innovation Forum and Awards.
The winners were announced on Friday 16 October 2026 at the Kia Oval in London. It was a strong field, with some of the biggest names in proptech in the running. So this one means a lot to us.
Why this matters
Buildings should be easy to run and good places in which to live. Too often, that’s not the case.
Owners want to cut energy costs and carbon. Operators want fewer call-outs and surprises. While residents just want a warm room and hot water when they need it. Too often it can feel like a battle to satisfy all parties.
Irus gives our customers control, visibility and intelligence across their buildings, so they can save energy, and residents can adjust their environment to remain comfortable – a win-win.
What the judges saw
The judges praised Irus for bringing heating, hot water, metering and monitoring together in one platform. They also noted that it delivers results without compromising resident comfort.
That last point is significant as most energy saving is done by restriction rather than tackling waste. Saving energy while residents stay comfortable is what makes Irus work.
With Irus now running across more than 190 UK sites, the judges saw it as a practical solution. One that benefits owners, operators and residents alike.
How Irus brings it together
Most buildings have separate systems for heating, hot water and utilities. Each one has its own controls and its own data. That can be a lot of work to grasp a meaningful picture.
Irus joins them up. Room heating, hot water tanks, leak detection, metering and monitoring all connect to one platform. Teams see what’s happening across a site, or a whole portfolio, from one place in the Irus portal.
So instead of reacting to problems, teams can spot them early. They can cut waste without guesswork.
The results speak for themselves. Across our estate, Irus has helped customers save 40.5 million kWh of energy, 8,000 tonnes of carbon and £9.2 million.
A big thanks
This award recognises the whole Prefect team. From the people who design and install our systems to those who support our customers.
Our customers and partners have also played a huge part. They trust us with their buildings and their residents, and they help us to keep innovating.
We must also thank Property Week, the judges and everyone who made the day such a success. Congratulations to all the other winners and finalists too.
