Ink helps to blot out Malaria

Apr 29, 2022 | Company news

Following a stock take and tidy up here at Prefect Controls HQ and as part of our ongoing commitment to green initiatives, we have donated some unused printer cartridges to a great organisation, Cartridges4Charity.

Since 2003 Cartridges4Charity has been helping consumers and businesses recycle used inkjet and empty laser cartridges, full cartridges, and mobile phones to reduce the carbon footprint of businesses and help raise funds to pass on to charities. The project is operated by Seriously Easy Ltd.

Printing has significant costs on the environment — over 75% of cartridges end up in landfill where they take thousands of years to decompose, so Cartridges4Charity encourage the reuse or recycling of cartridges. Refilling cartridges reduces a company’s carbon footprint, as up to 2.5kg of CO2 is saved each time a cartridge is refilled and reused compared with buying a new one.

All their services are free and straightforward to use. They offer prepaid Royal Mail labels and a collection, or a local drop-off site for items.

The money raised from the re-use of our cartridges will be used to purchase 35 anti-malaria bed nets.
