Established in 1977, Gildersome Spurs JFC has seen many children go through from under 5s through to the under 18s, with many moving on to the open age team ‘Gildersome Old Boys’.

Boys and Girls aged 4 to 18 are welcome to join and It’s a way of having fun, keeping healthy, improving their skills and at the same time developing some fundamental social skills along the way.

The team is a Voluntarily run, Non-Profit making Community Club providing a safe, fun environment for children to flourish and, who knows, become the next Lionel Messi.

There is a healthy demand for Junior Sunday league football in this part of Yorkshire with the Gildersome Spurs under 13s fielding two teams in the Huddersfield Macron Junior Football League, comprising 29 players in total, 4 coaches and their manager Mark Chadwick.

Prefect Controls have been proud supporters for many years and once again for the 20/21 season have signed up as main sponsors for the under 13s team.

Mark announced Prefect’s continued support recently, saying “it is great to have Prefect back on board this season, it makes such a difference to have their backing so that we can walk out, looking professional and ready for action in our new strip.”

Glen Golding, Managing Director of Prefect Controls said, “It is important for youngsters to belong to organisations as they grow up. Obviously, exercise is a great thing to instil in them at a young age, but sportsmanship, becoming a team player and commitment, are excellent life lessons to pick up, as well as enjoying all the fun.”

The team enjoyed a good run in the 17/18 season, reaching the semi-finals of the Huddersfield FA Under 11s Cup and last season’s hard work has paid off as they are promoted up to Division 1.

Prefect Controls wish them every success as they enjoy watching the teams’ progress with their “Cleverly simple control of the ball”!
