With the World Cup underway Prefect Controls will be cheering on the home nations, but our thoughts are closer to home with Gildersome Spurs Junior Football Club under 15s team. We have been supporting the team for many years and once again, this year we are the kit sponsors.
Unfortunately, due to Covid, backlogs, availability of materials and any other reason you care to choose, the kit has been delayed, but will hopefully be delivered soon.
Our team finished in fourth place last season and has made a promising start this year with a 50%-win rate in their first 6 matches.
They are also flying the flag in a couple of cup competitions, reaching the semi-finals of the Blackburn Cup in the Heavy Woollen League and, this weekend taking on Clifton Rangers in the Huddersfield Under 15s Cup.
I caught up with Mark Chadwick, Manager of the team, and asked what the most memorable match of the season has been, he commented, “We had a shocking start to a match against LS27 FC, our league cup rivals. After 10 minutes we were 3-0 down. But, after settling into our play-pattern we turned it around and came out 5-4 on top, it was a great match!”.
Glen Golding, Managing Director of Prefect Controls added, “With so much attention on Qatar, it is important to appreciate the volunteers here at home who give their time to the encouragement of youngsters in a healthy, fun and fulfilling activity. We wish Gildersome Spurs well this season and hope those Cups are coming home!”.
